About Department

The Economics enables students to outshine in the area of economic analysis, decision making in public or private corporate environments. The courses offered cover a range of subjects in Economics for instance Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economy, International Economics etc. These courses are covered at graduate and post graduate levels. At the graduate level, the focus of the course is on qualitative aspects, while at post graduate levels the course focuses on quantitative aspects and applications of the model. These skills are imparted to students through lectures, seminars and presentations. The Economics department prepares students for not only in Economics, but also in Business Management, Law, Environmental Studies, Public Policy etc. with its equal attention on theory as well as analysis, so that students have sound ground in economics for pursuing careers in the Civil Services, Financial Service Institutions, Market Research Firms etc.

The Economics department was established in year 1963 with only graduate degree. Post Graduate degree and PhD  was introduced in 1982 and 2020 respectively. The department is also a research center for students who want to pursue their career in research. numerous students have been awarded PhD under this department. Department holds  a library with 500 to 600 invaluable books.
