About Department

The Department was established in 1963, , one of the oldest operating departments. The postgraduate and PhD was introduced in 1987. The objective of the department is to offer a range of programs and courses that focus on literature , language and communication skills. Department has a goal to equip students  with critical thinking and analytical skills.  The Department has integrated newer areas of specialization as per the needs and interests of the changing world. Students can pursue careers in teaching , media publishing and corporate sectors and other fields.

The mission of the department is to foster interdisciplinary approach exploring diverse themes and culture, align with the national education policy model.

Departments often organize seminars, workshops, debates, and poetry readings to foster a culture of creativity and expression.
